TOOKE Bernard Captain 3rd Bn West Yorkshire Regiment KIA 03/05/1917 Aged 28. Born Leeds 1889. Son of William Oldham and Jane Ann France Married 1886 Leeds Registered Building 1911 At Leeds University living with parents 32 Reservoir Street. Benjamin Cecil his brother RNAS Learned to fly 11/11/1915. Emigrated Australia. Remembered Arras Memorial France.

TOWN Charles Aubrey Captain 11th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment KIA 20/09/1917 Aged 32. Son of John and Maria C CWGC 24 North Grange Road Headingley. Remembered Tyne Cot Memorial Belgium.

WATSON Mark Sanderson Second Lieutenant 1st Bn Highland Light Infantry KIA Kut Iraq 11/01/1917 Aged 22.  Born Chester 15/05/1895. Son of Reverend Richard William Minister of Headingley Wesleyan Church and Isabel Sanderson  Commissioned August 1915 Served with Indian Expeditionary Force Mesopotamia (Iraq) KIA on right bank of the River Tigris whilst attacking the Turks. Lieutenant Colonel Deacon wrote "He was a capable young officer of great promise" Chaplain Dr Ewing "He was held in universal affection and esteem because of his fine qualities and mind of heart, his soldieries spirit and gracious manhood. He was a splendid fellow and died a glorious death, and your sorrow may well be mingled with no little thankfulness and pride."   Remembered Basra Memorial Iraq.

Landed France September 1915 Wounded December 1915. Went to Ripon. Transferred to Somerset's as Captain December 1917. Enlisted Leeds pals 10/09/1914 went to Egypt served with pals 01/07/1916 at Somme. Wounded Cambrai offensive sent to Rouen No 83 Hospital 28/11/1917.  Laid to Rest Terlincthun British Cemetery Wimille France. His NCO wrote "We shall all remember his bright and cheery manner. and look back through memory's page and feel proud that god acquainted us with such a noble upright and clean living lad." photo page 66 vol 5 durugniys.
