Jewish Chronicle 14th December 1915

A promising life has been cut short by the death of Corpl. M. Brodie, who passed away on Thursday, the 6th inst. The deceased had a brilliant career. He was the only son of the late Rabbi Samuel Brodie and grandson of the late Rabbi Israel Levinson, for many years Rav in Leeds. From an early age he (showed) remarkable ability, which manifested itself as he reached maturer years. He was a active member of all literary movements in Leeds, was a keen debater and wrote with no mean ability. He took a deep interest in all things Jewish. His early death at the age of twenty-eight deprives Leeds of one of its promising intellectual workers for the welfare of the Community.
