Baptised 11/09/1889 Walworth Lady Margaret Church Southwark London. Married James Hodgkins Aston Birmingham 1903. 1911 Residence 175 Stonedale Terrace Snydale Road Normanton. James remarried in 1918 to Kitty Axup All Saints Normanton. When the family gave details for the Australian Roll of Honour for John Henry it mentions that his sister was killed in the explosion at Barnbow see below. NEWSPAPER ?

John spent six months in France before returning home.Passed away 04.30 at West Bridgeford Hospital Nottingham John had drank carbolic Acid in field nearby to the hospital, coroners verdict suicide whilst of unsound mind. John had been informed a few days earlier that he would be returning to France a Nurse found a letter to his mum in his pocket. Laid to Rest Beckett Street Cemetery Leeds.

Son of Hugh and Emma Blaymires Married 1876 St Simon Leeds. 1911 Pawn Broker 22 Compton View Stanley Road  Harehills. Just four days after George passed away close relatives and friends including a Fiancé Margaret posted in the YEP. It is often forgotten how many Fiancés were left behind and heartbroken. I always wonder who Margaret was and what happened top her ?

Landed France 13/04/1916. Spent Xmas of 1916 and new year of 1917 at home on leave. Cant find any connection to above John William however both served in Royal Engineers. Laid to Rest Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery Belgium.

HARTNELL Cuthbert Captain 8th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment KIA 16/07/1915 Aged 28. Born Leeds 26/08/1887 Vol 9b Page 473. Son of Wilson and Elizabeth Margaret Turnbull Giles.1911 Cuthbert was living with his family on Wetherby Road Roundhay Occupation Electrical Draughtsman. Enlisted Leeds 1914 Landed France 15/04/1915. Killed in trenches by a shell north of Hooge Belgium It is my belief that Cuthbert was buried at St Jean Crossroads Cemetery which was moved to Irish Farm New Cemetery after the War. Also  Remembered St Johns Roundhay.
