1911: Residence No 29 Elsworth Street Armley Road Occupation Grocers Assistant.

1917: William was on board HMS Vanguard off Scapa Flow when she suddenly blew up at around midnight, it is thought it was caused by a magazine explosion in one of the two magazines which served the amidships turrets P and Q. 804 men were reported to be lost.

1918: Onboard HMS Narborough which was wrecked after colliding with its sister ship HMS Opal which had hit Rocks at 21.27 in a snow storm off Scapa Flow 188 lives from both ships were lost, only one survivor William Sissons being found.

1911: Emigrated to Australia.

1914: Played football for Melbourne Thistle.

1915: Captained the Local England team that Played Scotland. In match reports, references to Goodson abound. As a "Roy of the Rovers" type centre-half, he was everywhere: breaking up play; heading clear; delivering good long balls to his forwards; and scoring free kicks, penalty kicks and goals from open play

1915: Family were residing at No 38 Chapel Lane Armley Leeds. 

1915: Married Ada Craig Baird of Learmouth Victoria.

1915: Enlisted Melbourne 14th June being described as being 5 feet 11 inches tall Blue Eyes Light brown Hair Occupation Science Master at Scotch College Melbourne Arthur had attended Leeds University.

1916: Embarked with the 9th Reinforcements on 16 February on board H.M.A.T A69 Warilda gave Fathers address as No 38 Chapel Lane Armley.  CLICK HERE

1917:  Arthurs personal effects were sent to his father in Leeds for the attention of his wife who was still in Australia. This was a Sealed Leather trunk containing personal effects.
